i’ve been selfshipping for years, but i only took it more seriously and open about when i joined the utapri fandom and i locked my eyes on ranmaru. ranmaru wasnt my first character i fell in love with when i got into utapri, but i slowly started falling for him once i got to know more about him as a character and his backstory, alongside his interests and hobbies too. i love learning more things about him and he brings me absolute joy when i talk about him or meet others that love him too! he has helped me so much as a person like figuring out myself, finding my voice and identity, and bringing me so much joy when i’m down. i take my selfship with ranmaru pretty seriously, as selfshipping in general helps me cope with trauma and to get a better understanding on forming relationships and expressing myself more with words and actions. he makes me believe i am worthy of being loved and finding love for myself and that i can find happiness within myself when i’m with him. my life without knowing ranmaru was dull and gray and him walking into my life brought a vibrant wave of colors like i never seen before; i was a wilting flower looking for sun and water until ranmaru, my sun, rained his warmth and strength all over me to help bring back my vibrant and colorful self to life again. not to sound overly dramatic, but in a way, he saved me and i felt like i discovered a solid group of friends and myself as a person and i owe him so much for that. i love him so much, he brings incredible strength to carry on.
